Make Your Finished Products Flawless With Best Extrusion Dies

Those who are into the manufacturing unit are quite aware of extrusion molding. Without extrusion, it is never possible to have the right kind of finished products. Extrusion helps in getting more number of finished products within a short period of time. These are required for making the products from varieties of materials ranging from plastic to metal.   Extrusion dies have a very important role in offering the right kind of extrusion molding. Extrusion dies are the templates through which raw materials are pushed into to form objects that could replicate the same shape over a length of material. The objects formed have fixed cross section. The most common and the easiest item that gets extruded are copper pipes.

Extrusion dies use different raw materials

The extrusion dies come in many designs. Not all shapes are circular like that of the pipe extruders. To create remarkable array of cross-sections there is no match for the extrusion dies. Any trusted engineering company offers dies that are capable of extruding varieties of materials like metals, plastics, ceramics and even foods. One very common example is the Spaghetti that gets created from raw pasta pushed through an extrusion die.

Importance of an extrusion die

An extrusion die is an important component of an extrusion machine and it decides the quality of the extruded products. Before the manufacturing unit selects an extrusion die, it is very important to identify the application requirements very well. The important factors to consider are materials to be extruded or the production rate needed.  There are varieties of extrusion dies that are available in the market so it is important to choose the one that suits the application the most.

Types of extrusion die

There is a hollow die that produce hollow or semi-hollow shapes. The extruded items have one or more seams. Another type of extrusion die is the solid die that is very useful to produce open objects e.g. bars, angles and channels. These dies have a metal plate with an aperture that has a cross section similar to the required object.  A billet is the raw material that is kept in the extrusion die which gets processed. The dimensions of the billers are very important. The type of the extrusion operation has to be kept in mind before buying an extrusion die. One is cold working – when the metal extrusion is done at the room temperature and another one is hot working when the extrusion of metals is done at higher temperature.
